P.S. re Blog Post #4
Dear students,
Just a word to let you know that you can be brief this time. You do not have to answer question #4 ( as we already talked about it in class). Also, you do not have to comment on your classmates' postings.
Happy long weekend!

Blog Post #4 - due before class on Tuesday, December 9
Dear students,
For the next few class periods, we will be addressing the theme of technology in various ways. In your assignment below you will learn some slang terms used to talk about technology. Please watch the video, and then answer the questions that follow.
1. Can you find examples of the 3 aspects of slang you learned about ( expression, pronunciation and grammar)?
2. Which of these expressions have you heard before? Which have you never heard?
3. Which might you use in the future?
4. In what situations might these expressions be appropriate and inappropriate?
As you watch the video, please write the definitions of the slang expressions on the sheet you received in class.
Forgive my delay in commenting on your paraphrases of "We Gather." I still intend to do so over the weekend.
Best,
Diana

piaoyan song
1. I like the second video, because this video give have subtitle, it afford our the important information about the whole video. But above all, the reporter's pronounce is more clear than the first video, and she used easier grammar than the first. First video is also good, but the reporter's tempo is a little quickly. I need listen several time to understand what he said.
2. this song is praise gold. the lyric narrated some pain that people had suffer. Then told us the gold bring concern and love to people, give us many help. So people use this song to thanks gold. Thanks for his selfless giving and support.
Piaoyan, I like your summary, but make sure you praise God, and not gold ( though some people do praise gold)!

I think the second one is more informative because it give us more specific information about the Thanksgiving day. I prefer the second one. I had not know very well about Thanksgiving day, due this video I have learned a lot about the origin, history and some way to celebrate it. Compare the two video, the second give us more details which can let us know more about it.
The Dutch hymn "We Gather Together" is talk about all of people together to thanks for the given by the god. When people have trouble and challenge, god give people belief and people can survive in all of trouble. People sing this song to thanks for all of given.

Thanksgiving day
1) Which is more informative? Which do you like better? Why?
I prefer the second video, because i thought that explains better the information it is more clear about what says and is more informative, also has more pictures that show us how it could all the proses. This video talks more about the pass and the first talk a little more about now a day and how we celebrated.
2) Express the overall message of the song
This song talk about being thankful with good for all the this that give to us, and telling him that we are going to still singing praises for him, because he has being good with us and all together ask for more blessings.

Reminder: Where to Post Comments
Dear Students,
First of all, thank you, Jessica and Cassio, for your very prompt comments!
Everyone else, please: I prefer that you post your comments in the way that Jessica did, under the "We Gather Together" video. Or - even easier - in the little box that appears under this notice from me. Let me know if you have questions.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Cássio - Thanksgiving questions
1- Which video is more informative? Which do you like better? Why?
The second one give us more detailed informations about the origin and historic facts of Thanksgiving. I liked the both, but it depends on the objective of watching. For example, if you just need to know a notion about the holiday it better for you watch the video from History Channel. But if you need study more and want to have exact informations is better for you watch the second video.
